Southwest Coastal

The South West Coastal region of Cambodia is where rainforest-covered mountains meet the sea. Stretching from the Cardamom Mountains down to the beaches of Kep this region is known for its rich natural landscapes and abundant wildlife.

Rivers flow down from the Cardamom Mountains, creating a network of estuaries, wetlands, and mangroves where you can see local fishing villages and maybe spot an Irrawaddy Dolphin. Further south from Koh Kong is Cambodia’s coastline where white sanded beaches on small island are the perfect place to spend a few days relaxing.

Kampot is always a popular holiday spot for expats escaping Phnom Penh and is also a great place access easily from the south. In Kampot you can spend a day exploring Bokor Mountain’s abandoned french colonial buildings and enjoying its cold temperature. Or visit pepper farms nearby to learn how pepper is grown and harvested while sipping pepper inspired cocktails at La Planation.

La Plantation Pepper Farm is about 15km from Kampot

In Kep you can enjoy long days on the beach and even longer lunches enjoying crab caught fresh just near the market. And from Sihanoukville you can take a fast boat to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem to relax on white sandy beaches.

Located not far from Phnom Penh, the Southwest Coastal is definitely a popular area to add to any Cambodia itinerary.
